Vintage Handira Blanket

This beautiful Handira blanket is sourced from The Atlas Mountains in Morocco and is woven from wool and cotton. The blanket is decorated with alternating rows of white, blue and pink.

Every bride wears one on her wedding day. In the months before her wedding, she and the women in her family would weave it. On her wedding day, the bride rides a mule, from her home to her new husband's home, with the blanket draped around her shoulders.

A classic for use on the floor, as a throw for furniture or hanging on the wall.

Material: organic wool, cotton

Condition: very good

Approx size 330 x 175cms including tassels

Note that this piece is handcrafted and therefore may have imperfections or irregularities. They should not be considered flaws, but rather an addition to their beauty and originality and testify to their value as a cherished tribal element.
